Liz Kidney, OTR/L, is a nationally board-certified and New Jersey–licensed occupational therapist with nearly a decade of experience supporting children and families. She earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and has dedicated her career to helping children build confidence, independence, and meaningful participation in their everyday lives.

Liz’s background includes extensive experience working with children in a variety of settings — including public schools, private and out-of-district programs, daycares, homes, and hospitals. Over the course of her career, she has supported Autistic children from preschool age (and often even before a formal diagnosis) through high school, gaining a deep understanding of their unique strengths, communication styles, and sensory needs. She also has significant experience supporting children with motor, cognitive, emotional, communication, and sensory differences, and works closely and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team — including speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, psychologists, educators, and pediatricians — to ensure care is coordinated and comprehensive.

Liz’s expertise also includes recommending and implementing a wide range of adaptive tools and equipment to promote participation, independence, and accessibility across home, school, and community environments. She has experience working with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and has supported older students as they transition to college by assisting with accommodations, access planning, and self-advocacy strategies.

Grounded in a neuroaffirming, strengths-based approach, Liz believes in meeting each child exactly where they are and creating environments that help them thrive. Her practice focuses on adapting surroundings, modifying contexts, and equipping caregivers with tools and strategies — ensuring that progress isn’t just seen in sessions, but woven into daily routines at home, school, and beyond.

In addition to her clinical work, Liz collaborates with toy companies as a consultant and product tester, evaluating toys for their role in supporting sensory and motor development. As both a therapist and a mom of two young children, she brings empathy, creativity, and real-world perspective to every family she works with. Outside of work, Liz enjoys cooking, baking, exploring the outdoors, and crafting with her children. She’s also known for her love of music (especially Taylor Swift), humor, and creativity — qualities that help her connect with families in a genuine and approachable way.

Because every child — and every family — deserves support that feels as unique as they are

At the heart of Tiny Tots Big Senses is a neuro-affirming, strengths-based philosophy. Every child’s sensory world is unique and worthy of celebration. The focus is never on “fixing” the child, but on creating the conditions where they can thrive. Tiny Tots Big Senses serves children ages 2–12 and their families through comprehensive evaluations, personalized coaching, and concierge-level support. Services are delivered in the comfort of the home, virtually, or in select community settings across Mercer and surrounding areas. Families also enjoy direct email access for guidance between sessions, ensuring they feel supported when it matters most.

As a concierge occupational therapy practice, Tiny Tots Big Senses is designed to feel different from traditional models of care. Sessions are longer, scheduling is flexible, and recommendations are tailored to fit naturally into daily routines. The focus is always on practical strategies, environmental supports, and family empowerment that create lasting impact well beyond the session.

  • Personalized care, not one-size-fits-all. Sessions are tailored to your child’s needs and your family’s routines.

  • Flexibility that fits your life. You decide how often we meet, based on your child’s needs and your family’s schedule. Visits can happen at home, in the community, or virtually — wherever real life happens.

  • More time, more access.  Unlimited email support, and quicker responsiveness when you need guidance.

  • Help when you need it most. I’m just an email away, with prompt and thoughtful support — whether virtually or by phone — so you never feel alone in the process.

  • Lasting impact. Strategies are designed for everyday living, so the progress continues well beyond our time together.

This model isn’t about more therapy — it’s about better, more meaningful support. Families choose concierge services because they want care that feels collaborative, empowering, and designed with their child at the center.

My goal is not for your child to be in therapy forever—it’s to give them (and you) the tools, confidence, and strategies they need to flourish in everyday life. Therapy is the bridge that helps your child move from needing extra support to thriving more independently. I’ll walk alongside your family as we cross that bridge together, with the goal of helping your child step forward into life with skills that last long after therapy ends.

Below, you’ll find different subscription packages designed to meet families at different points in their journey. Consider which level of support feels right for your child right now, we will always adjust as their needs and independence grow.

Personalized Support (2).png

Every family begins with a comprehensive evaluation to build a clear picture of your child’s strengths and needs. This includes a parent interview, review of routines, and observation of your child in natural settings.During the evaluation, I look closely at areas that often bring families to Tiny Tots Big Senses, such as:

  • Sensory processing differences that interfere with daily routines or participation.

  • Strong reactions to transitions or changes in routine

  • Challenges with daily living activities

  • Difficulties with focus, regulation, or engagement across home, school, and community.

This process ensures that recommendations are tailored, strengths-based, and designed to fit seamlessly into your family’s daily life.

sensory playgroups mercer county ot_edited.png

The sensory playgroups tend to spark the most engagement among little ones ages 6 months to 3 years, though younger babies and older children (under 5 years) are always welcome, too! Each session blends music, movement, and sensory exploration to support early development in a playful, nurturing way. While it may look like a playgroup, it is truly more of an interactive class, carefully crafted so that children experience all eight senses in nearly every session.

Because these groups are led by me, an occupational therapist with a passion for sensory processing, each class is thoughtfully designed to balance play and education. As little ones delight in rich, hands-on activities, caregivers naturally learn simple strategies for supporting growth, co-regulation, and calming at home. We also explore gentle ways to be mindful of each child’s unique sensory preferences, validating what feels safe and familiar while gradually and playfully introducing new sensory experiences that might otherwise feel overwhelming.

These gatherings not only nurture early learning but also create space for moms to build community and share the journey of early childhood together. Best of all, for you and your little one, it will simply feel like a playgroup filled with fun, music, and connection.

Please note: These playgroups are community-based services and are not billable therapy sessions. They are not considered occupational therapy treatment, but rather an opportunity to learn, connect, and play.
